My Christ, of Galilee

Representative Text

1 With visage marred till none could know,
I see One climbing “Calv’ry’s Hill,”
And surging round Him as they go,
Men filled with lust to kill.
It is the Christ, God’s Son, I see,
With weary steps up Calv’ry go,
To die the man might ransomed be
Because He loved Him so.

Refrain:
It was for you, it was for me,
That Jesus died on Calvary,
And rose again, henceforth, to be
The Christ, my Christ of Galilee.

2 Gethsemane, and Calv’ry’s Cross,
Thine heritage from sinful man;
Thy glory, Thou didst count but loss,
That man may live again.
Lord, now I feel, I see, I know
In part, the love Thou hast for me;
The urge that made Thy head hang low
In death upon the tree. [Refrain]
