1 Will I empty-handed be
When beside the crystal sea
I shall stand before the everlasting throne?
Must I have a heart of shame
As I answer to my name,
With no works that my Redeemer there can own.

2 When the harvest days are past,
Shall I hear Him say at last,
"Welcome, toiler, I've prepared for thee a place?"
Shall I bring Him golden sheaves,
Ripened fruit, not faded leaves,
When I see the blessed Savior face to face?

3 When the books are opened wide,
And the deeds of all are tried,
May I have a record whiter than the snow.
When my race on earth is run,
May I hear Him say, "Well done,"
Take the crown that love immortal doth bestow.

She was a religious author, poet, and music compiler, who published her collections of music, including 400 hymns called “Hymns about forgiveness!”, “Wayside Song” (1922), and “Starlight & lamplight” (1928). McAulay, Neal A. (Nova Scotia, March, 1854--?). Born of Scottish parents "in the English town of Nova Scotia." At age 21 he moved to Boston and from there to Portland, Maine, in 1876. Converted in 1877; went to Chicago in 1882, and entered McCormick Theological Seminary in 1883 (B.D., 1886). Pastorates in Presbyterian churches in Wilton, Iowa (1886-1907) and Lyons, Louisiana (1907-?). In 1889 began writing gospel hymns. --Gabriel, Charles H. (1916). Singers and Their Songs.
