When the Gates Swing Open

Through the years I keep on toiling

Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 Through the years I keep on toiling,
Toiling through the storm and rain,
Watchfully and patiently waiting
Till my Saviour comes again.
I am waiting, Lord, trusting in the word,
Keep me from the paths of sin,
Hide me in Ty love, write my name above,
When the gates swing open, let me in.

2 Prayer will keep me fit for service,
Help me up on every hand.
I've stood many a trial,
Some day I'll understand.
I am praying, Lord, trusting in the word,
Keep me from the paths of sin,
Hide me in Thy love, write my name above.
When the gates swing open, let me in.

3 Teach me how to love my neighbor,
Teach me how to treat my friends,
Fill me with the Holy Spirit,
Keep me humble to the end.
Keep me humble, Lord, trusting in Thy Word,
Hid me in Thy love, write my name above
When the gates swing open, let me in.

4 Tired of the lad I am carrying,
Tired of this world of sin,
Angels in the kingdom beckon,
Saying weary soul come in.
I am coming, Lord, trusting in Thy word.
Keep me from the paths of sin
Hide me in Thy love, write my name above.
When the gates swing open, let me in.
