See the dazzling candles gleaming

Representative Text

1 See the dazzling candles gleaming
From the sparkling Christmas tree,
Little faces smiling, dreaming,
Gather ’round it wond’ringly;
Little children, mark you well
What the many candles tell;
Christ, the precious Light from Heaven,
God on Christmas day has given.

2 See the pretty presents lying
Underneath the Christmas tree!
Little hands are busy, plying,
One by one with radiant glee.
Little children, mark you well,
What the many presents tell;
Christ, the precious gift from Heaven,
God on Christmas day has given.

3 See the green and living branches
On the brilliant Christmas tree!
Though the frost of winter changes
Life to death most cruelly,
Little children, mark you well,
What the living branches tell:
Christ, the precious Life from Heaven,
God on Christmas day has given.
