Happiness in Believing

O blessed day of rest

Alterer: Anna Beeman
Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 O blessed day of rest,
And happy time of love,
When we shall lean on Jesus breast,
In the bright world above.

2 Will this e'er be the case,
With me, poor worthless me?
I must ascribe it all to grace,
If this should ever be.

3 But O that boundless love,
That rich eternal sea;
It fills the shining worlds above,
And reaches down to me.

4 Praise, praise the blessed name,
Of Christ our Lord and King;
Invite him in our hearts to reign,
While we his praises sing.

5 Lord help me wing away,
And leave these earthly things;
Yes, take a view of endless day,
Where saints and angels sing.

6 The saints were once below,
As full of doubts as we;
But now with love their features glow,
While they their Saviour see.

7 Rejoice this soul of mine,
Jesus is now above;
Lord give me faith on high to climb,
And taste those streams of love.
