1 La salvación llevando,
A Sion llegó el Señor;
Los niños entonaron
Hosanna en su loor.
Gozoso por su celo
Camina el Salvador,
Y manda le acompañen
Con cánticos de amor.
2 Cristo el Señor gobierna
En la Sion celestial,
Y por los suyos guarda
Cariño siempre igual;
Alzando alegres voces
A su trono eternal,
Le ensalza con hosannas
El coro angelical.
3 Alaben nuestras voces
Al Hijo de David;
Alegres corazones
Su nombre bendecid.
Y unidos cual sarmientos
A Cristo nuestra vid,
Amor le tributemos:
Al Salvador venid.
In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries. Go to person page >

Sedgwick that the signatures stood for "Joshua King, late Vicar of Hull."
In a second communication, dated Aug. 19, 1865, be writes further, "Mr. Joshua King was Curate to Mr. J. Eyton, of Wellington, Shropshire, when Mr. E. made his collection of Hymns and wrote them for his… Go to person page >
Published in a chapel hymnal for the Duke of Würtemberg (Gesangbuch der Herzogl, 1784), ELLACOMBE (the name of a village in Devonshire, England) was first set to the words "Ave Maria, klarer und lichter Morgenstern." The tune was named after its composer and published in the British volume The Hymnary (1872). TOURS has four broad phrases. Its repetitions of melodic and rhythmic units make it accessible and loved. The harmony suggests a stately tempo.
