Jesus Is the Angels' Joy

Representative Text

1 Jesus is the angels' joy
And they praise with jubilation
Him Whom they did long enjoy
As their Sun, since world's creation.
As the morning stars sang praise
To the Lord in highest heaven,
So the angels sang at even
Their esteem in lofty phrase.

2 Gladly did the angels serve
Jesus, King of all creation,
Knowing that He does deserve
Their devotion, dedication.
In the covenant of old
Even, they announced assuaging,
Or if God bade, fiery, raging,
Proclamations to unfold.

3 Angels sang when Christ was born,
Mourned when ended His life's story;
And rejoiced that radiant morn
When He rose in all His glory.
Raptured, they escorted Him
Heavenward, as mankind's Saviour,
Jesus Christ, the Mediator,
Praised fore'er by seraphim.

4 What rejoicing when the King
Calls to heav'n His congregation!
The angelic choir will sing,
Worship Him in adoration.
Then the Bridegroom leads the Bride
To celestial realms of splendor;
No one can conceive the grandeur
Where the heav'nly hosts abide.

5 Jesus! Let me join the throng
Of the angels, who adore Thee,
Lift my voice in joyful song,
Honor Thee and bow before Thee.
Let me spend my earthly days
Virtuously, in preparation,
Living in anticipation
Of unceasing songs of praise.
