Hear the Battle Cry

Representative Text

1 Hear the battle cry resounding;
Lo! the gath’ring host draws near!
Millions now the war are waging,
Hear their song of happy cheer.

Refrain:
Take the cross and wave its banner
In the foremost of the fight;
Stand like soldiers bold and fearless,
Stand for God, defend the right.

2 Onward, onward they are moving,
See their blood stained colors fly,
Jesus’ name their glorious watchword,
Jesus’ name their battle cry. [Refrain]

3 Let us join their noble army,
In the Lord their hearts are strong,
Swell their ranks and share their perils,
Sing with them their happy song. [Refrain]

4 When the warfare is accomplished,
And the victor palms are won,
May we hear with them the welcome,
Soldiers of the Lord, “Well done.” [Refrain]
