He Comes, He Comes, Almighty Lord

Representative Text

1 He comes, He comes, almighty Lord, our Saviour,
Triumphant Victor, Thou art near.
He comes, He comes to save His wand'ring children,
Spreading His word so all may hear.

2 Dear Lord, our god, whose heart would not be grateful
On this, our Lord's most joyous day?
Relieve our suff'ring and our soul so fearful.
Let inward peace find all who may.

3 O Lord, release the bonds of all Thy children
And let them all unburdened be.
Let no one stay Thy destiny, Thy coming,
Renew us, Lord, and make us free.

4 Thou art the Everlasting, Just, and Righteous;
Govern my soul, for I am Thine.
No longer will I live for myself solely;
Take spirit, soul and body mine.

5 Then let Thy word be spread throughout creation,
To nations all, both far and near.
Thy name, dear Saviour, glorious is, and mighty.
Establish Thou Thy kingdom here!
