Silly old hen

Representative Text

1 Foolish old hen
To tell it so plain:
She's laid a new egg
And feels very vain:
Little Blue-eyes,
Look sharp in the hay:
We want some new eggs for
A pudding today?

2 There is the nest!
And, O do you see,
The pretty white eggs?
There are three times three:
Silly old hen,
We will have our fill:
Now don't you wish, chicky,
That you had kept still?
