Down the Stream of Life

Representative Text

1 Down the stream of life we glide,
Borne upon its rippling tide,
When dark scenes of toil and strife
Shadows o’er our daily life,
Or ’mid sunshine, mirth and song,
We are swiftly borne along.

2 Let us work ere comes the night,
Shun the wrong and do the right,
Gather store now while we may
Ere this life shall flee away,
Ere our bark shall ride that wave,
Which the distant shore shall lave.

3 When our course of life is o’er,
May we reach that blessed shore,
Where above in glorious bow’rs
Ever bloom immortal flow’rs,
Which shall never more decay,
Tho’ this earth must pass away.
