1 Buried with Christ! what joy to know that He--
Buried for us--permits this sweet embrace;
Asks us to join Him 'neath the swelling wave;
Grants to our faith this precious trysting place.
2 Buried with Christ! we die unto the past--
Leaving all self and sin, to serve no more;
Rise with our Lord, the bond-salves of His love,
Freed from the fetters of the life of yore.
3 Buried with Christ! the likeness of His death
Opens to newness of the life divine;
Forth with our Lord, in resurrection life,
Joy fills our hearts, and makes our pathway shine.
4 Risen with Christ! our anchor--hope in Him;
Glory awaits when He shall come to reign,
Help us, our Lord! that, 'faithful unto death,'
The crown of life our steadfast course may gain.
5 Risen with Christ! our pardon is assured;
Cleansed by Thy blood, and fitted for Thy shrine,
Dwell in us, Lord--Thy Holy Spirit's home--
Helper in all, t'ennoble and refine.
