As once again the year (week) is ending

Representative Text

1 As once again the year (week) is ending,
We thank Thee, gracious Lord above,
For all the mercies Thou art sending,
For all Thy goodness, all Thy love.
By Thy hand we are led to Thee
Through this world to eternity.

2 Thy mercy to us mortals flowing
Has been so great, we scarce can tell;
From year (week) to year (week) Thy goodness, growing
Has served us faithfully and well.
We praise Thee for Thy daily care,
For helping us our burdens bear.

3 We ask forgiveness for transgressions
Committed by us in past days,
Hear graciously all our confessions
And help us to amend our ways.
Thy precious blood redeem our soul
And make us rev'rent, pure, and whole.

4 Thou who hast mercifully given
The will to live a better life
Give also us Thy strength from heaven
That we may victors be in strife.
Throughout the year (week) with us abide;
Sustain us, Lord, and be our guide.

5 In all our earthly tribulation,
As well as at triumphant goal,
We praise Thee, Lord, of all creation,
With all our mind and heart and soul,
And will, from earthly suff'ring free,
Be with Thee in eternity.
