Ye Princes who in Might excel

Hymnal: The Psalms of David #XXIX (1767) Topics: Description of Storms and Stress of Weather Lyrics: 1 Ye Princes who in Might excel, Your grateful Sacrifice prepare; God's glorious Actions loudly tell, His wond'rous Pow'r to all declare; To him alone your Homage pay; To him alone devoutly pray. 2 To His great Name fresh Altars raise; And humbly due Respect afford; Him in his sacred Temple praise, Where he's with solemn State ador'd. To him continual Pray'rs address, His Name with constant Praises bless. 3 'Tis He that with amazing Noise The wat'ry Clouds in sunder breaks: The Ocean trembles at his Voice, When he from Heav'n in thunder speaks; His Voice loud echoes through the Hills, And all the Earth with Terror fills. 4 How full of Pow'r His Voice appears! With what majestick Terror crown'd! Which from the Roots tall Cedars tears, And strews their scatter'd Branches round. Whene'er the LORD in Thunder speaks, The Trees of Libanus he breaks. 5 They, and the Hills on which they grow, Are sometimes hurried far away, And leap, like Hinds that bounding go, Or Unicorns in youthful Play: the Cloud-topp'd Hills themselves will quake, And from their firm Foundations shake. 6 When God in Thunder loudly speaks, And scatter'd Flames of Lightning sends, The Forest nods, the Desart quakes, And stubborn Kadesh lowly bends, To see his pointed Lightnings fly, While Thunder rends the vaulted Sky. 7 He makes the Hinds to cast their Young, And lays the Beasts dark coverts bare; While those that to His Courts belong, Securely sing His Praises there: His Saints in Safety there attend, And at his awful Footstool bend. 8 God rules the angry Floods on high, His boundless Sway shall never cease; His People He'll with Strength supply, And bless His own with constant Peace; On them he sends his Blessings down, And will his Saints with Glory crown. Jesus, Saviour, pilot me

Author: Dr. Edward Hopper, 1818-1888 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #512 (1917) Topics: Storms At Sea Lyrics: 1 Jesus, Saviour, pilot me Over life's tempestuous sea; Unknown waves before me roll, Hiding rock and treacherous shoal; Chart and compass come from Thee, Jesus, Saviour, pilot me! 2 As a mother stills her child, Thou canst hush the ocean wild; Boisterous waves obey Thy will When thou say'st to them: "Be still!" Wondrous Sovereign of the sea, Jesus, Saviour, pilot me! 3 When at last I near the shore, And the fearful breakers roar 'Twixt me and the peaceful rest Then, while leaning on Thy breast, May I hear Thee say to me: "Fear not! I will pilot thee!" Languages: English Tune Title: PILOT
