38b. Psalme 11

1 I trust in God, how dare you then
say thus my soule untill,
Flye hence as fast as any fowle,
and bide you in your hill?

2 Behold the wicked bend their bowes,
and make their arrowes prest
To shoot in secret, and to hurt
the sound and harmelesse brest.

3 Of worldly hope al staies were shrunk
and clearely brought to nought:
Alas the just and righteous man,
what evill hath he wrought?

4 But he that in his temple is
most holy and most hie:
And in the heavens hath his seat
of royall majestie.

5 The poore and simple mans estate
considereth in his minde:
And searchest out full narrowly
the manners of mankinde.

6 And with a chearefull countenance
the righteous man will use,
But in his heart he doth abhorre
all such as mischiefe muse.

7 And on the sinners casteth snares
as thicke as any raine:
Fire & brimstone & whirlwindes thick,
appointed for their paine.

8 Ye see then how a righteous God
doth righteousnesse embrace:
And to the just and upright men
shewes forth his pleasant face.
