69. Our Refuge

1 Before me rolls life’s restless sea,
And down its shining strand
Relentless tides of passing days,
Sweep o’er its shifting sand.

Refrain:
But I am safe from all alarm,
From wave and tempest shock;
Securely hidden, safe from harm,
In Christ the mighty Rock.

2 When loud the threatening tempest roars,
And curling waves dash high,
Swift from the stern relentless storm,
To that blest Rock I fly. [Refrain]

3 When storms of sin sweep o’er the soul,
And tidal-waves of woe,
There is a refuge calm and sweet,
Secure from every foe. [Refrain]
