565. When the dawn awaking found me

1. When the dawn awaking found me,
Hymns of glory rose around me—
From the heavens, earth and ocean,
All creation sang devotion.

2. Should we humans, your creation,
Heirs in Jesus of salvation,
All alone sit out the chorus?
What a shame that would be for us!

3. Therefore I, your child a-borning
As I wake this glorious morning,
Sing your glory and your praises—
Hymns of thanks my spirit raises!

4. May all women know your glory,
May all children sing your story!
May we raise your praise with all men—
Hallelujah! Amen! Amen!
