150. The Conqueror of Death

1 Be glad! rejoice! Hope’s golden light
Is rising with the dawn;
The gloom of death has taken flight,
Its terrors are withdrawn.

Refrain:
Behold the King, the glorious King,
The conqueror of death!
O make the whole creation ring!
The Lord has conquered death!

2 Be glad! rejoice! Behold the King!
Triumphant forth he comes,
The glory of his love to bring
Into our hearts and homes. [Refrain]

3 Both sin and death have heard their doom,
The stone is rolled away,
And shines a light within the tomb
Which dims the light of day. [Refrain]

4 Behold the King! The strife is o’er,
The Saviour lives again!
Be glad, and praise him more and more;
Rejoice, ye sons of men. [Refrain]
