130. Hear the Call

1 Souls around us dying
For the Bread of Life,
Weary spirits sighing
In unequal strife;
Hearts forlorn, despairing,
Waiting but to die,
Thus the summons hearing,
Shall we pass them by?

Refrain:
Hear the call! hear the call!
Sounding now for thee;
Hear the call! answer all,
“Here am I, send me;”
Thus the summons heeding,
Go with spirit brave,
Haste while love is pleading,
Christ the Lord will save.

2 Souls for whom th’Anointed
Bore the cross of pain,
That, to death appointed,
They might live again;
Tell how deep his yearning
Over them today,
As his mercy spurning,
Still they turn away. [Refrain]

3 Tho', in chains unyielding,
Fettered they may be,
Christ, all power wielding,
Can their souls set free;
Bear to them the story
Of this mighty love,
Tell them of the glory
Of the realms above. [Refrain]
