Chosen for a work divine,

All oppressed by wrong or sin,
Give the evil spirits battle,
Let the strife of love begin.

3 Into every soul ye enter
Life and light, and joy will come,
Drive away the pow'rs of darkness
From Immanuel's sacred throne,
Glorious then the human spirit,
Free, and pure, and sanctified,
In his name possess and fill it,
Who for man hath lived and died.
