| Text: | The Child's Prayer |
| Author: | Hodges Reid |
| Tune: | [Into her chamber went ] |
| Composer: | J. Osgood |
1 Into her chamber went
A little child one day,
And by her chair she knelt,
And thus began to pray:
Chorus:
Jesus, my eyes are closed,
Thy form I cannot see--
If Thou art near me, Lord,
Wilt Thou not speak to me?
2 I pray Thee, Lord, she said,
That Thou wilt condescend
To stay within my heart,
And ever be my Friend;
Chorus:
The path of life looks dark--
I would not go astray;
Oh, let me have Thy hand
To lead me in the way.
