1 Lord, teach a little child to pray,
Give me the words I ought to say:
For I am young and very weak,
And know not how I ought to speak.
2 The words of prayer I've often said
With eyelids closed and bowed head,
But oh, I am very much afraid
That with my heart I've never prayed.
3 But now, O God be pleased to take
Away this heart for Jesus' sake;
O give me one that loves to pray,
And read the Bible every day.
