103. A Living Flame

1 O for the mighty rising wind
That filled the sacred place,
Where thousands in a single day
Were brought from sin to grace.
We long to rise on wings of faith,
Beyond this finite world of care,
And catch the light within the vail
That shines eternal there.

2 From ev’ry vain and idle boast,
O Spirit, make us free!
Now lift our thoughts to brighter things
And fill our souls with Thee.
Come, Holy Ghost, with quick’ning pow’r,
In Christ, our loving Savior’s name;
Let perfect love and fervent zeal
Burst forth a living flame.
