1 Blest is the Man, whom thou, O Lord,
In Kindness dost chastise;
And, by thy sacred Rules to walk,
Most lovingly advise.—
2 This Man shall Rest and Safety find
In Seasons of Distress;
Whilst hopless sorrows thos await,
Who stubbornly transgress.
3 For God will never from this Saints,
His Favour wholly take:
His own Possession and his Lot
He will not quite forsake.
4 His Wrath has but a Moment's Reign,
His Favor no Decay:
Our Night of Grief is recompens'd
With Joy's returning Day—
5 The World shall then confess Thee just
In all that Thou hast done:
And they, who choose thy upright Ways,
Shall in those Ways go on.
