| Text: | Thine, mightiest Father, thine I am |
| Author: | Mr. Merrick |
1 Thine, mightiest Father, thine I am;
By Thee from out the womb I came;
From Thee my ev'ry Comfort spring,
While yet upon the Breast I hung!
Hail! from my Birth and to my End,
My God, my Guardian, and my Friend!
2 On Thee my Hopes supported stand:
My Life, from earliest Youth, thy Hand
(That Life, which first from Thee began)
Preserv'd, and led me up to Man!
And, while that Care my Life prolongs,
Thy Name shall animate my Songs.
3 O, let me not, Almighty Frined,
While with the Weight of Age I bend,
And wearied Nature's succours fail,
The Absence of thine Aid bewail!
My Gracious God! be thou still near;
And make, O make, my Life thy Care!
