741. Savior, Now with Contrite Hearts

1 Savior, now with contrite hearts
we approach your throne of love,
asking pardon for our sins,
peace and comfort from above.
You once suffered on the cross
to atone for sinners’ guilt;
may we never, Lord, forget
that for us your blood was spilled.

2 Now we bring ourselves to you;
cleanse us, Lord, we humbly pray;
undeserving though we be,
draw us closer ev'ry day.
Lord, our refuge, hope, and strength!
Keep, O keep us safe from harm,
shield us through our earthly life
by your everlasting arm.
