113. The world of God how fair!

1 The world of God how fair!
There countless joys abound for all;
Man and beast,
Here they feast;
The world of God how fair!

2 It is no vale of tears;
For it the God of mercy made,
Lovely made,
Useful made;
It is no vale of tears.

3 The blooming field of flowers,
The mild and warming light of sun,
He hath made,
For us made--
Who rules the world of ours.

4 The spring where coolness flows,
The field that yields us sweetest bread,
Blush of life,
Joy in life,
On us the Lord bestows.

5 Our parents gives He us,
To lead us true, in goodness' way,--
Father's care,
Mother's prayer:
How good is God to us!

6 He guards us from the skies,
If rain descends or sunlight glows,
Cheerful be;
Good is He,
New joy shall ever rise.
