129. A little further on

1 A little further on,
Pilgrim, thy way pursue,
Though with thy toilsome journey worn.
Yet keep the end in view,
Long have thy laboring feet
Their weary burden borne,
But this will make thy resting sweet,
A little further on.

2 A little further on,
Through present darkness press,
And bid forboding thoughts be gone,
If such thy mind oppress.
Soon, soon before thine eyes,
The coming day will dawn,
The glorious sun in splendor rise,
A little further on.

3 A little further on,
And, pilgrim, thou shalt stand
With toils, and pains, and conflicts done,
Safe in Immanuel's land.
There golden harps will ring,
And then before the throne,
With songs of praise and triumph sing,
A little further on.
