656. Accept My Grateful Praises

1 Accept my grateful praises,
O Jesus Christ, my Lord,
For ev’ry precious promise
I find within Thy word!
What service can I render?
What promise can I make,
For all Thou hast accomplish’d
And suffer’d for my sake?

Refrain:
For trusting only in Thy strength,
Which Thou has pledg’d to me,
My willing heart would thus respond,
And pledge itself to Thee.

2 Upon Thy strength depending,
I give my promise true,
Whatever Thou wouldst have me
That will I strive to do!
In prayer I’ll seek Thee daily,
And read Thy holy word;
And make my life’s endeavor
To follow Thee, dear Lord. [Refrain]

3 Wherever duty calls me,
There, Saviour, will I be:
I’ll join with Thy disciples,
And testify for Thee.
For Thy dear Church I’ll labor,
My willing service give;
The Church my Saviour died for,
For her I’ll gladly live! [Refrain]
