1 Sowing the seed, preparing for the harvest
While the golden sun is high;
What do we scatter, carefully remember,
We must gather by and by.

Refrain:
Sowing, sowing,
Sowing, we are sowing for our reaping by and by;
Sowing today, sowing today,
Reaping by and by.

2 Sowing the seed! shall tares or weeds among them
Spring to life and choke the grain?
Scatter the seed ‘mid earnest cultivation,
Honest work for honest gain. [Refrain]

3 Sowing the seed! O blessed occupation!
If we sow in faith and love,
Jesus will give a royal compensation
At the “harvest home” above. [Refrain]
