1 Morn awakes and woodlands ring,
Earth and Heav’n with glory shine;
Glad as birds of dawn we sing,

Sunbeams glitter, day is come,
Fled are all the fears of night;

2 Bounding in the hearts of men,

Dewy slumber leaves the eyes,

3 Sweet as God’s sweet grace the air
Breathes its freshness o’er the flowers;
Earth is beautiful and fair,
Blessèd are the morning hours.
Golden fields with radiance glow,
Golden skies gleam bright above,
Eden comes again below;

4 Swiftly flies the night of time,
Soon eternal day will dawn,
Angel choirs in song sublime
Heralding unfading morn;
Then, transfigured evermore,
All the sin of earth forgiv’n,
Loud we’ll sing where saints adore,
Praise to Thee, great Lord of Heav’n!
