1 To be with Christ! how great the joy!
To be with Christ above!
To know the bliss, without alloy,
Of His unchanging love!
2 As earth's dark shadows all depart,
Safe in His arms to be!
To feel the beatings of that heart
Whose blood was shed for me!
3 For Thou, dear Lord, art still the same
Who dried the widow's tears;
Whose own in floods of sorrow came
'Mid friendship's griefs and fears.
4 The glory that invests Thee now
Can ne'er obscure the grace
That sits on that once-bleeding brow,
And shines in that dear face.
5 O that we could through all life's way
By faith Thy beauty see,
How fervently each heart would say,
"I would with Jesus be!"
