1 O Thou, who hast at thy command
The hearts of all men in thy hand!
My wishes and desires control;
Mould ev'ry purpose of my soul.

2 Be with me, Lord, where'er I go;
Teach me what thou wouldst have me do;
Suggest whate'er I think and say;
Direct me in the narrow way.

3 Prevent me, lest i harbor pride,
Lest I in mine own strength confide:
Show me my weakness; let me see,
I have my pow'r, mine all from thee.

4 Assist and teach me how to pray;
Dispose my nature to obey;
What thou abhorr'st, that let me flee,
And only love what pleases thee.

5 And while I to thine honor live,
May I to thee all glory give,
Until the summons, Lord, shall come,
That calls thy willing servant home.
